Dr. Raisa Felts is a seasoned therapist with a Doctorate in Psychology from Northwest University, specializing in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) across neurodiverse populations. With nearly 15 years of experience, Dr. Felts is dedicated to supporting children, teens, and adults within the ADHD and autism communities, focusing on the unique challenges and strengths associated with these conditions. In addition to her therapeutic work, she offers comprehensive ADHD and Autism assessments to provide individuals with accurate diagnoses and the support needed to thrive.
Dr. Felts employs evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Emotional Transformation Therapy (ETT) to address the multifaceted nature of PTSD. Her holistic approach integrates these therapies within a person-centered framework, ensuring a safe and empathetic space where clients can explore their trauma and work toward healing.
Her commitment to cultural sensitivity is a cornerstone of her practice. Dr. Felts seamlessly integrates multicultural perspectives into her therapeutic work, acknowledging and respecting her clients’ diverse cultural backgrounds, including South Asian, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC communities. Her dissertation on generational dynamics within the Bengali community highlights her dedication to understanding and bridging cultural differences, which is crucial in treating trauma effectively within varied cultural contexts.
Dr. Felts brings specialized expertise in navigating the impact of complex trauma, including advanced training in betrayal trauma from the Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS). Her practice addresses a range of trauma experiences, including relational trauma, betrayal trauma, attachment wounds, and single-instance traumas.
Her career began at the University Center for Developmental Disabilities at California State University, San Bernardino, where she engaged in neurodiversity research and examined the impact of medications on the adolescent brain. Further experience at the University of Washington, coupled with her work in autism research and summer camps, enriched her understanding of neurodiverse needs across all ages.
Dr. Felts has also contributed her expertise to clinical settings like the HopeCentral pediatric clinic in Seattle, offering comprehensive assessments and therapy. Her work in multiple private practices has established her as a trusted ally for those navigating the complexities of PTSD and neurodiversity.
