Meet Emily Pieper

Emily Pieper is an individual and couples therapist at the Bellevue Trauma Recovery Center (BTRC) in Bellevue, Washington, licensed to practice in Washington, Colorado, Minnesota, and California. She holds a Master of Science in Co-Occurring Disorder Recovery Counseling from Metropolitan State University and brings extensive experience working with trauma and co-occurring disorders across a range of clinical settings. She has received advanced certification through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP) as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), with specialized training in the treatment of compulsive sexual behaviors and betrayal trauma.

As a sex addiction therapist, Emily works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating the impacts of trauma, compulsive sexual behaviors, and sex and pornography addiction. She has particular expertise in betrayal trauma recovery, supporting betrayed partners and couples working through the aftermath of infidelity, sexual addiction disclosure, and relationship rupture. Her clinical experience also includes supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse and exploitation, as well as those impacted by domestic violence, religious trauma, and complex PTSD.

She also works with individuals facing anxiety, depression, chronic health concerns, and challenges related to identity and life transitions.
Drawing from her background in community mental health, private practice, and residential and outpatient treatment, Emily approaches therapy through a trauma-informed and systems-oriented lens. She recognizes the ways relational and environmental factors shape each client’s experience and integrates this awareness into her work.

Emily offers both in-person therapy in Bellevue, WA and telehealth therapy to clients across Washington, Colorado, Minnesota, and California. She is also a participating member of the Family Advocacy Outreach Network (FAON) through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, contributing to multidisciplinary efforts supporting vulnerable populations.

Emily’s approach is integrative and responsive to each client’s needs, incorporating evidence-based modalities such as Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She is particularly attuned to the intersection of trauma and addiction, supporting clients in building insight, strengthening emotional regulation, and moving toward sustainable recovery.

She is committed to creating a nonjudgmental, collaborative space where clients feel supported in exploring their experiences and working toward meaningful, lasting change.
